Now that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has finally been completed, Kojima is looking forward to creating new videogame series as well as continuing existing ones, such as Zone of the Enders.
The fast-paced mecha fighting series for the PlayStation 2 launched in Spring 2001, and was met with average reception at best. It is widely considered to be one of the PS2’s most underrated games, and has gained its own cult-fanbase across the world.
In an interview with PSM UK, Kojima stated that he “would like to say that Zone of the Enders is quite near the priority list… [after MGS4] it might be good to change to outer space or robots or things like that for a change”
Debut footage of Rare’s next generation sequel to it’s famous platformer franchise Banjo-Kazooie has hit the internet. This is a prime example of why Microsoft bought Rare.

More Age of Conan news, anyone? Eidos has announced that a whopping one million players have signed up for the MMORPG’s beta test.
According to the developer, Funcom, this is the highest number for any MMO beta test in the Western world. At least that we know of anyway. But how many of those million players will become paying customers, I wonder?
Age of Conan is one of the most anticipated MMORPG releases in modern time, and is currently scheduled for a May 23rd launch.
Pure director Jason Avent has stated that the upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 game will look exactly the same on both consoles.
Speaking to Eurogamer this week, he said that there is absolutely nothing to be worried about in regards to the visuals, and that the PS3 version was already up to standard early in January this year.
“It’s the same; exactly the same, I’d say around January time we had all the functionality in the PS3 version that we had in the 360.”
“Now we’ve got them both running and 30 frames per second is our target. It does dip down, but we’ve got months to optimise it. We do side-by-side comparisons just like you guys do.”
Norwegian developer Funcom has launched a new website featuring a feat calculator for its MMORPG Age of Conan. It is a valuable tool players can use “to explore the various options available for thei character’s builds, without having to worry about in-game costs to retrain their feats.”
The site states that you will be able to use it for viewing all the feats of every single class available, and even interact with them in the exact same way you would in-game, but with a few extrea features.
Not satisfied? Well then you can also easily link your feat builds to friends, so that they can check out what you have in mind, similar to World of Warcraft.
A handful of new screenshots from the highly anticipated Fable 2 for the Xbox 360 have surfaced online, showing off its superb visuals and beautiful scenery.
In addition to these, some new game details have also been released. The mini-map has been replaced by a “bread crumb trail” GPS-like system that glows golden on the ground, showing you where to go. Eight different magical spells each with five levels of power will also be included.
What’s more impressive, every single residence you come across in the game can actually be purchased and occupied by you and your family. These will all unlock new guests and items that you can take advantage of.
According to NeoGAF member SolidSnakex, Guitar Hero 4 will include a set of drums, a bass guitar, full microphone support, and will additionally allow you to create and share your own songs.
The game is currenly being developed for the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PS2. However sharing songs on the Wii and PS2 will be significantly less robust than in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
The post in question boasts a new guitar peripheral that introduces a “new input mechanic” which apparently involves “see-through notes” and aims to impact the way you play GH in the future.
While having experienced a significant 77% drop in sales, Grand Theft Auto IV still refused to give up on its top spot in the UK All Formats Charts this week.
This pushed the hugely popular and critically acclaimed Rockstar title over the one million mark in the UK, and apparently widened the gap between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, in Microsoft’s favour.
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is still doing nicely as well, claiming the eight spot, closely followed by Mario Kart Wii and Brain Training.
2K Games has announced that they have made an agreement to develop a movie based on the critically acclaimed and award-winning BioShock, and revealed that the deal involves Universal Pictures.
According to a press release, the director of the insanely successful Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Gore Verbinski is to not only direct the BioShock movie, but also take on the role as producer.
The screenplay will be done by the Academy Award-nominated writer of the Gladiator, The Aviator, and Sweeney Todd.
If these people can pull this off (which they are more than qualified for), the movie could turn out to be something truly spectacular.
According to an Activision conference call, the upcoming James Bond game, Quantum of Solace, will be running on the critically acclaimed Call of Duty 4 engine by Infinity Ward.
in the conference call, Activision CEO Mike Griffith said: “We look forward to launching Bond: Quantum of Solace in Q3 concurrent with movie. This game uses the Call of Duty 4 engine and technology to bring Bond games to a new level.”
The COD4 engine is a beast, so this should come as good news for most of us.
In a recent intervew, the producer of the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed claims the game is the greatest Star Wars title ever created.
Speaking at an Activision & LucasArts event in London last week, the producer (Cameron Suey) said the game, in his opinion, features the greatest storyline of any previous Star Wars title.
“I’m a humble guy so I try not to use a lot of hyperbole, but it’s certainly the greatest Star Wars story that we’ve ever told in a videogame. I absolutely love the gameplay. This is the first game I’ve worked on, in about four years in the industry, in which I still love the game even a year-and-a-half after I’ve been playing it a little bit every day.”
He goes on to say that usually when you work so close to a game, you end up getting sick and fed up of it, and eventually you never want to see it again once it has been completed. However this was not the case with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
VideoGamer.com asked Suey if the game was the greatest Star Wars title ever made, re replied: “You know what, I’ll say it, it’s for me, and greatest applies to value judgement and opinion, it’s definitely the greatest Star Wars game. I’m of course biased!”
Second quick media update. As announced on the official Xbox website yesterday, the first footage of Gears of War 2 has been released. It looks a lot less grey than the first game.
Contrary to previous reports, the next installment in the Call of Duty series may not be set in World War II after all. Ativision CEO Mike Griffith has revealed that Call of Duty 5 will take the incredibly popular series to a “new military theatre”.
He stated that they plan to bring the intensity of the more recent COD4: Modern Warfare into a new military theatre, to engage their significantly larger user base which “nearly doubled last year as new users came into the franchise.”
Whether this means it will take place in a futuristic setting or not, we don’t know. But it’s good news for those of us who are tired of all the gritty gray WWII-inspired games.
Criterion Games today announced that their critically acclaimed and award-winning Burnout Paradise is being re-adjusted for a PC release.

Here’s an interesting trailer for Ubisoft’s next big first person shooter, Far Cry 2. It more or less describes what the player will experience and how Ubisoft Montreal attempts to make this game attractive to all types of first person shooter players as well as creating a realistic and versatile environment to play in. They also go on to say that they actually travelled to Africa and camped out in the wilderness in order to experience the country in order to get a very personal experience with the locale. Now that what I would call a dedicated developer, folks.
The Radical Entertainment developed and Sierra published action title Prototype has been delayed. The highly anticipated game will not be released in 2008, but rather in 2009.
“Sierra Entertainment and Radical Entertainment have made the decision to shift Prototype to launch in 2009,”
“Since its announcement, Prototype has been regarded by many as groundbreaking and taking the open-world genre in new directions, and in the simplest explanation possible, we need more time to deliver the game the team initially set out to create.”
This is the first delay the game has seen so far, and hopefully the last.
