In Major Nelson’s latest podcast, it was revealed that over two million Grand Theft Auto IV achivements were unlocked in the first 24 hours after its release.
“In the first 24 hours, over 2 million Achievements were unlocked for a total of 15 million gamer score,” he said.
It was also announced earlier this week that more than 1 million had played the blockbuster game on Xbox LIVE in the first 24 hours. Hardly shocking, but still interesting.

Microsoft has confirmed that there will be no new Xbox LIVE Arcade releases this week, due to the release of the game you should be playing or dreaming about right now, Grand Theft Auto IV.
Major Nelson commented that “We definitely understand the complaints about the lack of XBLA releases this week.”
“There are certainly people who won’t be playing GTA IV, and would want to see an alternative on the Arcade, but to be fair, any game released this week will not get a fair chance to reach everyone who the publisher might want to reach.”

Pete Hines from Bethesda Softworks says there will be no downloadable demo for the hugely anticipated Fallout 3. He explains:
“When you build it as one thing, there’s no way to portion off a section and have it stand on its own without putting the whole game in the demo, which we’re just not going to do … And it doesn’t really capture the fun of a game like an Elder Scrolls or a Fallout, where you can go where you want and do what you want. So no demo, sorry.”

Disappointing, even though his reasons are more than valid enough.
