To make up for the delay in the European release of the WiiWare release, they are topping the five games released for North America with a total of 8 Titles. Both releases are still behind the 11 title release of Japan.
Poor Europe, we don’t even have the first LostWinds game yet, but already now has developer Frontier announced that a sequel is in the works. This shouldn’t come as a surprise though, as the first title clearly indicated that it was “to be continued.”
This was revealed in a recent update on the official website, asking readers to sign up for “advance information on Frontier’s forthcoming LostWinds sequel containing amazing new gameplay as Toku and Enril’s incredible adventure to save Mistralis continues.”
LostWinds 1 launched on WiiWare in the US a couple of days ago.
Nintendo launched WiiWare today. WiiWare is similar in nature to the Virtual Console, the main difference being the games are original. Six games are now available for purchase and download; Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, LostWinds, Defend your Castle, Pop, V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack and TV Show Game King.
Nintendo has confirmed that its WiiWare service (which is already out in Japan) will launch in the UK on May 20th this year. It will be released in the US on May 12th.
Additionally, the UK is also getting the ‘Everbody’s Nintendo Channel’, allowing gamers to keep themselves updated on Nintendo’s past and future games.
Konami has announced three brand new titles for WiiWare.
Saku Saku Animal Panic is a similar to Zoo Tycoon in concept, and has been re-named to Critter Round-Up for North America.
The next two titles are Crescendo and Fresco Beach, the first being described as a “musical experience fused with quick, frantic action of classic arcade action.”Fresco Beach is apparently a sandcastle building sim of sorts.

Telltale Games has announced that they will be bringing Strong Bad to Wiiware in his own series of episodic games. Strong Bad is a character from the immensely popular web animated series, Homestar Runner. Five games have already been planned and will be released on a monthly basis. Pricing and exact release dates will be announced in the near future.
Square Enix has announced that they will be providing downloadable content for their first WiiWare title, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As a King.
Starting today, Japanese Wii owners will be able to purchase and download the latest DLC for the game. Apparently the pricing will range betwen 100 and 800 Wii Points.
New details on the highly anticipated WiiWare title Gravitronix were revealed in a recent developer interview by Radio Ninty.
“We’ve actually written our own highly conservative engine to ensure that our games are as compact as possible. This was in direct response to the concerns being voiced by players all over the internet.”
Crisis Core isn’t the only thing launching this week, as Nintendo’s new WiiWare service has now officially gone live in Japan.
It can already offer nine downloadable titles, such as Star Soldier R, Dr. Mario & Saikin Bokumetsu, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, Minna no Pokemon Bokujo and more.

Developer WayForward Technologies has announced a new upcoming game for Nintendo’s WiiWare service, named LIT. The game utilizes the console’s unique features to bring forth a tense and exciting adventure to the Wii’s audiences.
“This is the first time in recent memory that our team has felt the freedom to begin experimenting on consoles outside the confines of established IP, budget, or publisher dictates,” said John Beck, CEO of WayForward Technologies.
“The scope and business model for WiiWare really make this possible.”
Pokemon Ranch is an upcoming title for WiiWare we heard about a long time ago, but haven’t heard from ever since. Now however, a few new details on the game has been revealed.
- The game has been renamed ‘Everyone’s Pokemon Ranch’
- You can transfer your pokemon from Diamond and Pearl and store up to 1000 of them on the Wii
- Pokemon can be sorted
- Interaction with your pokemon through activities is possible (such as sitting around a campfire)
- Take pictures with your pokemon and save them onto an SD card or post them on the Wii message board
