The Playstation Blog reports that a new Firmware is due to hit your machines soon. The notice reports that this is to bring stability to some PS3 titles. One has to wonder if maybe all the reported problems with GTA IV may not have been fixed by their patch? If this fixes any remaining issues, […]
Finland-based developer Housemarque is currently working on a multiplayer-focused update for the popular PSN shooter, Super Stardust HD.
This update is a team based one, and introduces several additions to the game, such as a split-screen feature, versus and co-op modes, a ship editor, trophies, a skill balancer, and a 5.1 orchestral soundtrack.
MTV recently interviewed Housemarque co-founder Ilari Kuittinen on this update, who stated that they have focused mostly on the new versus mode, and that there’s a new game mode coming up called “Twin gun.“
Thursday is only a day away, which means we’ll be getting another PlayStation Store update.
With downloads such as the Iron Man and Echochrome demos, Loco Roco, Kingdom of Paradise,Resistance 2 trailers and more, PS3 owners should have more than enough to fiddle with for a couple of days.
Pete Hines from Bethesda Softworks says there will be no downloadable demo for the hugely anticipated Fallout 3. He explains:
“When you build it as one thing, there’s no way to portion off a section and have it stand on its own without putting the whole game in the demo, which we’re just not going to do … And it doesn’t really capture the fun of a game like an Elder Scrolls or a Fallout, where you can go where you want and do what you want. So no demo, sorry.”
Disappointing, even though his reasons are more than valid enough.
It’s Thursday, which means the PlayStation Store has been updated.
This time the newly revamped store can offer the highly anticipated Metal Gear Online beta (which is free), along with a couple of add-on packs for Warhawk and Lair.
Following the completion of the new PSN Store, the latest PlayStation 3 firmware is now available for download.
In addition to a total re-design, the store is no longer HTML-based, allowing it to be accessed more easily and way faster. It will be available for PS3 owners once the firmware has been installed.
Also, improved sound technology has been added, hit the jump for more on this.
The official US PlayStation Blog has published an update on the PlayStation Store.
“Hi, everyone! Just wanted to provide an update about the PS Store. The store for both the PS3 and PC will be unavailable starting early morning Monday, April 14 through early morning of Tuesday, April 15.”
“You will not be able to access either store during this maintenance window.”
The PlayStation Store redesign was confirmed a little while ago, and images of the new version have surfaced the Web already.
But the question many PS3 owners have asked is, “will we still be able to access the PSN Store for other regions besides our own?”
Sony has responded and the official answer is no, the new store will not be region locked at all. This is good news for those of you sitting with multiple different accounts, no?
A couple of new details on the new PlayStation Store have surfaced the Web.
The store will apparently feature a more intuitive category system, and you’ll be able to sort the items on each page by date added, category, most downloads, and name.
There will also be interesting new types of downloadable content available. Hit the jump for the juicy stuff.
We know a new version of the PlayStation Store is coming, Sony stated so a while back.
The first advertisement for the new store arrived today.. on the store itself! It’s nothing too exciting though, just a banner promoting the “great new look” which is “coming soon.”
No more information was given, but oh well at least we know they’re making progress!
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue was scheduled for a PSN release yesterday, but for some reason it is nowhere to be found. Sony has yet to make any comments on this, but hopefully the game can be downloaded digitally very soon.
The Blu-ray disc version of the game is already available at retailers across Europe. Priced at £24.99, this massive ‘demo’ features 71 cars and six tracks, and should be enough to keep you busy for quite some time.
This week we’re getting a whole lot of add-ons, downloadable content, and a significant amount of game videos. Sadly the only game available is a fl0w bundle and a PSP demo.
Sony has made an official statement regarding the supposedly leaked list of PlayStation Network titles and release dates, we posted yesterday.
The most interesting part of the list was probably Ratchet: Quest for Booty, which could be a brand new PSN title or downloadable content for Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction.
“Internal working documents naturally have proposed dates against titles, but these change frequently and dates are not confirmed until issued as part of a press release or formal announcement.” the statement read.
Go get a grain of salt - a screenshot of what appears to be the release schedule for upcoming PlayStation Network titles have leaked onto the Web, check it out below.
Keep in mind that this is (for now) only a rumour, as Sony has made no related announcements recently.
