The Playstation Blog reports that a new Firmware is due to hit your machines soon. The notice reports that this is to bring stability to some PS3 titles. One has to wonder if maybe all the reported problems with GTA IV may not have been fixed by their patch? If this fixes any remaining issues, […]
If you’re worried that the Metal Gear Solid movie will never see daylight, we have some moderately good news for you. According to Kotaku, a contract for the movie is still being worked out. And while Kojima-san will not direct it, he will take on the producing role.
Hollywood has great respect for Mr. Kojima. They want to meet with him. Kojima will be acting as a producer, but we don’t know how involved he’ll be as a producer. Often Hollywood adaptations have the original game creator involved at the beginning, but somewhere along the line they fall out of view. This is why it’s very important for us to carefully pick the studio for this project.
In regard as to who might be be directing this film, Paul Thomas Anderson has apparently shown interest to some degree.
Is Hideo Kojima disappointed with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots? Well we were lead to believe that a while back, when Edge Magazine published an interview with the MGS creator. How however, Kojima states that he was merely misquoted.
“On the internet, there’s stuff saying ‘Hideo Kojima isn’t satisfied with the PS3’. I’d like to talk about that today. I just got back from Paris and did 15 interviews and everyone asked me about it, did I say that. The meaning of what I said has totally been changed, made totally different. Today, I’d like to talk about that,” he said.
Kojima comments that when he is doing an interview, he speaks in Japanese, and cannot control how the writers and translators interpret that into English.
“What I say is then translated in English, and the writer then changes that into their own words and writes that. So, right there, the meaning of what I say changes a lot.”
Konami has confirmed two “innovative initiatives” for the upcoming June 12th launch of the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PS3.
Prior to the game’s release, Konami has no unveiled a new pre-order campaign, which will be allied with key retail partners throughout Europe. Consumers who decided to pre-order a copy of MGS4, can receive an exclusive DVD entitled Meta Gear Saga Vol.2.
This seven-part documentary details the origins of previous MGS games, and the evolution of Hideo Kojima’s epic series. This “gripping documentary” apparently offers a valuable insight into the series and the history of Snake.
The Playstation Blog has been updated today with video reels about Metal Gear Solid 4. Now these were previously released but it does reveal something very interesting.
As many now know, this is in fact a trailer for MGS4, and reveals some of the incredible first few gameplay moments of the MGS4 itself.
The blog post leaves off noting that the Beta is soon approaching and that additional content will be coming shortly to give you that extra boost you need after playing GTA IV for a week or two straight.
Konami has released a new Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer with some interesting new footage.
The most interesting part is probably the brief graveyard scene in the beginning, where you actually get to see flowers, grass, trees and all sorts of vegetation (gasp!). Although it should be noted that this scene is colour-less pretty much.
Hideo Kojima isn’t entirely satisfied with what he has achieved with Metal Gear Solid 4, in fact in the latest issue of Edge Magazine, he expresses his disappointment with this highly anticipated title.
Game-wise, it’s pretty close to the original vision: you sneak into the battlefield and can choose whether to do a stealth game or interfere with the battle more directly.
But the graphic, side things like motion-blending and the size of the map, totally was not accomplished to my original vision - to my satisfaction.
Konami has released the final US box-arts for Metal Gear Solid 4 standard and limited edition.
The Limited Edition includes everything the Standard Edition offers, and features exclusive artwork by Kojima Productions art designer Yoji Shinkawa, as well as an awesome extra ‘the making of’ Blu-ray disc.
This additional disc will include lenghty interviews with Hideo Kojima and the MGS4 soundtrack CD.
Craploads of exciting new details on the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots have surfaced the Web.
Some minor highlights; MGO is included with MGS4, and the opening credits of the game were designed by the people behind the successful iPod ads. The title also visits more locations than any previous MGS to date.
There is a lot more though, and the particularly juicy information is right after the jump!
The official Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriot soundtrack is now available for pre-order at Konamistyle.
We don’t know how many tracks or CDs it will include, but considering the previous installments in the series had fantastic music, this one will be well worth the money.
If you’re interested, the soundtrack will cost you a $30.00 and will be released on May 28th.
Good news Europeans, Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will indeed be released in Europe on June 12th - as well as Metal Gear Online: Starter Pack, which is at the same time the US gets it.
This announcement originally came in German, and details the exact date and the fact that we’ll also be getting MGO. Konami UK has also confirmed this.
Some new information on MGS4 appeared in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, looks like Kojima Productions have actually removed several of the already-planned SIXAXIS mechanism for the game.
“I think the problem with this feature is it was severly overhyped,” says Assistant Producer Ryan Payton. “It was talked up as Sony’s answer to the Wii Remote. The trick is to use Sixaxis sparingly and have fun with it. I don’t think anybody wants to play a long game while consistently having to tilt the controller around. Rather, it’s fun for the player when they’re given a chance to use it in short bursts– that’s how we’re approaching Sixaxis in MGS4.”
In the latest podcast from Kojima Productions, producer Ryan Payton announced that Metal Gear Solid 4 will not have voice over tracks from other languages, so Americans and Europeans can’t choose, say, Japanese.
“Unfortunately because of disc space, we don’t have the space to include other languages, other voice over files for the respective versions. So the Japanese version’s not gonna have English VO, and the North American and European versions won’t have Japanese VO.”
He does however ensure that the voice over work in MGS4 is the best the series has ever seen.
