This article from Zunerama features an eight minute video tutorial for getting the XNA beta kit on your Zune and being able to get games uploaded. Microsoft may be behind the Ipod in many aspects but it’s rushing full steam ahead on development. Check it out.
Take Two CEO Ben Feder has stated that initial analyst predictions for GTA IV sales don’t do the title’s true retail potential justice.
Feder told Reuters: “Our expectations are very high, higher than analysts give the game credit for. All the analysts had a sales number, give or take, and I think we will be on the upside of that rather than the downside.”
Analysts have been predicting that the game will generate around $400 million in first week sales alone, outclassing last year’s Halo 3 by $100 million.
Two great articles address the differences in the “Visual Experience” for Grand Theft Auto IV, the first is a video comparison of in game footage from Joystiq and the other is the resolution and effects used for each system by Kotaku. Now to really understand what is going on, you should read the Kotaku article then watch the video. You will be more prepared on what to look for.
For those of you lucky enough to have either managed to snag a copy or have pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto 4, buyer beware! It appears that the Inquirer is reporting that users on several boards are having issues with their copies of the game. No official word has been released as of the time of this writing concerning the rising number of users who are having problems, stay tuned for more info.
Several readers have emailed the INQ to report that their copies of GTA 4 on PS3 cannot be installed to the hard-drive on their consoles, even after a factory reset and reformat of the device. Other users have reported crashes after successfully installing the game.
EA today announced that it will release a demo of the hugely anticipated (as well as long-awaited) title Spore this summer.
Players will be able to test the Spore Creature Creator, designing their very own life form using 25% of the body parts included in the full game, and afterwards upload it to YouTube using an integrated feature.
“We are thrilled to finally be putting the creative tools of Spore into the hands of players around the world,” said creator Will Wright.
“The amazing creations players design this summer will help populate the game universe we all enter when Spore ships this September, so in a sense, the Spore Creature Creator is the birth of Spore.”
The latest UK software charts are in, and I don’t think it will surprise anyone that Wii Fit is firmly seated on leading throne.
Following closely behind is Mario Kart Wii, which is enjoying spectacular sales numbers, along with the ever-popular Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue.
Microsoft has confirmed that there will be no new Xbox LIVE Arcade releases this week, due to the release of the game you should be playing or dreaming about right now, Grand Theft Auto IV.
Major Nelson commented that “We definitely understand the complaints about the lack of XBLA releases this week.”
“There are certainly people who won’t be playing GTA IV, and would want to see an alternative on the Arcade, but to be fair, any game released this week will not get a fair chance to reach everyone who the publisher might want to reach.”
Blockbuster seems serious about getting into the gaming business and will soon start selling all things related to video games. Blockbuster has sold used games for a while now, and they plan to start selling new games, as well as the systems they play on and any accessories you need to play them with. This applies for the DS as well. They plan to start renting Nintendo DS games and will start selling them later this year.
Blockbuster will also be getting an exclusive Playstation 3 bundle which includes the 40 GB model of the console, a Blu-Ray remote and HDMI cable, Spiderman 3 on Blu-Ray, Transformers the game, and a twelve week rental card all clocking in at $499.
It’s refreshing to see an industry making significant progres these days. The gaming market is already huge and is becoming an even more integral part of mainstream entertainment despite the US’s current economic woes.
We haven’t heard much from Monolith Soft’s Disaster: Day of Crisis in a while now, so it’s good to know that some new details just came through the door.
According to Famitsu, you still play as Ray, the guy who lost his co-worker Steve and his friends a year ago, and the story revolves around him finding Steve’s kidnapped sister Lisa.
The game also offcers a series of natural disasters, like volcanes, tsunamis, and hurricanes. And let’s not forget the terrorists trying to blow up a nuclear bomb.
The Playstation blog has been updated with the latest content update for those of you lucky fans in the Metal Gear Online Beta.
Hi all! Welcome back to Metal Gear Mondays! It’s certainly been a busy week, and once again, we’d like to take a second to thank you for all the great compliments and feedback from our previous installments – and of course, your enthusiasm for all that is Metal Gear!
Three more Soul Calbur characters from the games of past have returned once again to duke it out with the rest. We have the re-dead samurai Yoshimitsu. Talim, the teenage girl who is infatuated with the wind and who also wields twin elbow blades. And Rock - whose name suffices as a description.
I personally can’t wait to see Yoshimitsu fight Yoda seeing how they will probably be yelling the same annoying phrases over and over like fighters tend to do in most fighting games.
Gametrailers has a new Valkyria Chronicles trailer up which appears to be the intro to the game. This is another one of those games that keeps looking better every time some new media of it surfaces the internet.
Valkyria Chronicles is a cell-shaded strategy RPG based in a fictional world named Europe around a 1930’s time frame. As with most games in this genre, a fantasy element is bound to come into play at some point through out the course of the game. Valkyria Chronicles was released in Japan last Thursday and it is expected to be released in North America and possibly (the real) Europe in the fall of this year.
We are in love with this game! You should love it too! We have more Infinite Undiscovery screenshots and it’s only looking better and better. I personally can’t wait for some gameplay footage to see how the battle system fares. It looks pretty slick from the handful of screen shots we’ve seen.
Today Ubisoft has announced a brand new Prince of Persia game for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC which is stated for release this holiday season. And not only that, Ubisoft is proclaiming that this game will “rejuvenate the action-adventure genre” with a “new breed of gameplay”. Ubisoft Montreal will be developing the new Prince of Persia game. This is the same studio that created the mega-hit Assassin’s Creed and the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time trilogy for the last generation systems. The DS will get it’s own rendition of the game with exclusive content.
EA has announced that they are going to be releasing a new multiplayer Conquest mode that will be available for download when Battlefield: Bad Company releases. Perhaps EA is trying to let everyone know they are sorry for their previous attempts at going with the pay for upgrade route. Either way, free is good!
A little disappointing this week, we have a single title release; Double Dragon for 500 Wii points. Definitely a classic NES title. This does bring me back to the days of my childhood. Weighing this in against some of the release titles like Mario Kart and GTA IV, one could only nod in agreement at the lack of an accompanying release.
According to GamesIndustry BIZ, Microsoft was offered Valve’s critically acclaimed and award-winning title The Orange Box for their Xbox LIVE Arcade service, but decided to reject the proposal.
“We’d love to do that. Right now it’s something we’d love to do. I’d love to sell Portal on Xbox live,” said Doug Lombardi, Valve marketing director. “But the platform holders aren’t doing that right now. There’s a size limit and all kinds of other things.
50 Cent 2: Blood on the Sand director Julian Widdows today dismissed claims that the upcoming title is set in the Middle East.
“It’s an everyman’s war zone. It’s a pastiche of war zones, for want of a better way of describing it.”
“Yes, there are definitely Eastern influences in parts of the game, but here are also Western influences. From day one the art team wanted to create something that could have been everywhere.”
